Your Questions Answered

We know that it is difficult to pick up the phone and enquire about catering for a funeral. To make this process a little easier, we have put together a few questions which may be on your mind.

We appreciate that every funeral is different, so we have answered these as well as we can. Our care for your needs will be felt every step of the way, as we tailor everything to you and your family.

Wedding-canapes-two-many-cooks
Carefully constructed canapes, served with equal care

What time will you arrive to cater for the funeral?
We normally need to arrive an hour prior to when we need to serve.

Will you be able to gain access to the church hall while the service is going on?
If the church hall is locked then we will need someone to leave us the key to gain access or be given the key code prior to arriving.

What will you need from the church hall?
We will need access to the kitchen and the church hall will normally have tables for us to serve cold and hot drinks from. We take everything else with us, this includes an urn or two, cafetieres, teapots, tea cups and saucers, silver tea spoons, champagne glasses, wine glasses, soft drink glasses, serving plates and napkins for as many people as needed…not forgetting the food.

Gorgeously presented meringues as a sweet option

How will the serving work?

We will first serve drinks – this normally includes wine and a soft drink alongside tea and coffee. Our team will ensure everyone is kept topped up and looked after.

While your guests are having a drink and a chat, our team will go around with platters of food.

Can you provide the drinks, including Champagne?
Yes, we can suggest and take along soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. You may need only pay for the drinks which are consumed. Alternatively, you can provide the alcohol and we will serve it for you.

How long do you normally stay for?
Our staff will stay for around 4 hours.

Once food has been served and your guests start leaving, we will pack up and take everything with us, leaving no trace.

We’re Here to Help…

If you are ready to discuss catering for a funeral, please give us a call, so that we can help.

Wonderland Weddings for Winter

NYE_bride_table_Two_Many_Cooks_Wedding_caterers_surrey

There is a very special air of romance to winter weddings, where you can create your very own wonderland and allow your imagination to take flight!

Two Many Cooks are perfectly positioned to plan, coordinate and cater for your wedding. As wedding planners and wedding caterers, with a former winter bride, Emily, at the helm, we will help you with everything, from heating your marquee or venue, to decor, to your bespoke menu.

A fairylight-lit tipi, with a fire pit centrepiece, for a warming winter wedding venue

Tipis and marquees are not simply for summer weddings! This stunning canvas tent made for a pop-up winter wonderland.

With dramatic purple lighting to offset delicate strings of fairy lights and real foliage, in addition to a fire pit, this structure provided a magical atmosphere.

Marshmallows for melting atop the fire – yes please!

Winter is the season for comforting food and warming treats. Two Many Cooks will produce a personalised tasting for you and your partner, so that you can choose the dishes which will complete your wedding feast.

For a quirky twist, you may like to invite your guests to toast their own marshmallows over the fire!

Real rose petals add a delicate decoration to generous dessert platters

To add further indulgence to your wedding feast, opulent platters of assorted desserts, decorated with real rose petals, will ensure your guests feel spoiled!

This selection includes miniature versions of Creme Brulee, Chocolate and Honeycomb Mousse, Eton Mess and Macaroons.

A draped ceiling and oodles of fairy lights, for an enchanting setting

This marquee by Paul Simon Marquees was the fairy tale setting for another winter wedding. The snow-white ceiling, in its draped folds, gave the feeling of an alpine landscape, which was precisely right for this skiing-themed celebration.

To add to the cosy environment of a ski lodge, tumbles of fluffy cotton snow were placed on the tables, which were named after mountains this couple have skiied down together.

The garden shed in this home was expertly incorporated into the setting of the marquee, and covered in fairy lights. This became the photo booth, for guests to creep inside for some silliness!

A towering cheese cake to mop up some of the bubbles, later into the evening!

If you would like to discuss options or test some of your ideas for a winter wedding, pick up the phone for a chat with Two Many Cooks! We look forward to hearing from you.

Our reputation as wedding planners and wedding caterers has won us some rather fabulous friends in the bridal industry!

We often recommend the impeccably personalised service at Miss Bush, a luxury bridal boutique in Ripley, Surrey. Miss Bush’s dedicated team echo our own bespoke approach; we also ensure your unique requirements at the forefront of everything we do.

For the Suzanne Neville Designer Day at Miss Bush, Two Many Cooks created deliciously decadent canapes to compliment the bubbles.

If you are a budding bride, you may well have already studied Brides magazine. Two Many Cooks was invited by Brides’ editor, Jade Beer, to cater for the launch party of her debut novel, The Almost Wife.

The champagne-fuelled event was held at the showroom of The Wedding Present Co. – a gift service we adore for its varied and quality selection.

Perrier-Jouët Champagne, clinked in stunning hand-painted flutes, to set the tone at Amanda Wakeley’s Autumn/Winter event, where we provided the party food

Iconic British designer, Amanda Wakeley, also appointed Two Many Cooks to design party food for the launch of her Autumn/Winter 2018 collection, Midnight Moth.

For this curiously titled range, we presented intriguing canapes which captured guests’ imaginations, even before they had tasted their deliciousness!

Festival Weddings

This year, as wedding planners and wedding caterers, Two Many Cooks has enjoyed the continuing trend for Festival Weddings. Open fields, laid-back vibes, handmade decor and of course, hearty, homemade, rustic dishes by Two Many Cooks!

Robyn’s dress, captured by Elena Popa

For their Festival Wedding catered by Two Many Cooks, Robyn and Charles opted for carnival-style street food, including Paella, BBQ Jerk Chicken and Char-Grilled Corn with Chilli and Lime Butter.

We designed their wedding cake to capture the whimsical feeling of their special day, decorating it with delicate blooms of Baby’s breath, ribbons, forest fruits and fragrant rosemary.

Fresh rosemary, baby’s breath and forest fruits for a Festival Wedding Cake

With plenty of lush fields available in the Surrey Hills, as wedding planners, Two Many Cooks can assist you in finding the right site for your Festival Wedding!

Emily and Jim opted for Sondes Place Farm in Dorking, where they had the peace-of-mind that their guests would not be ushered home at midnight, and the party could reach its own organic end!

For their celebration tent, County Marquees built a marvellous structure, fit for the rustic feast prepared by Two Many Cooks.

Emily and Jim, who adore a pub roast following a ramble in the Surrey countryside, chose BBQ marinated legs of Salt Marsh lamb, garnished with roasted garlic cherry tomatoes, rosemary and tzataiki for their show-stopping main dish.

The male heads of each table even got to play chefs, carving the lamb for their fellow guests, sporting hats and sunglasses – for the full rock ‘n’ roll effect!

Another of our beautiful festival brides, Ellen, got fully into the D.I.Y-spirit by asking her family and friends to take care of all of the photography for her, forgoing polished prints for heartfelt mementos.

The mens’ orange ties and stripy socks set the colourful, feel-good tone of the day!

To add to the outdoor shenanigans, Ellen included ping pong and mini golf, with the whole wedding feeling like the friendliest festival to grace a field.

In keeping with the homely atmosphere, Two Many Cooks crafted two comforting main courses.

For meat-eaters, Chicken Wellingtons with Onion & Mustard Sauce & Mushroom Duxelle, Spinach, Potato Terrine. The vegan offering was Pumpkin & Red Lentil Kofta with Smoky Tomato Sauce, Lemon Dressed Quinoa & Wilted Spinach.

Ellen rocked the mini golf in her stunning wedding gown & ballerina flats

“Wow! What an 80th Birthday Party – Maggie loved it and it was a huge success thanks to you and your lovely team!

We can’t thank you all enough for your hard work in the preparation and on Saturday itself – everything was perfect! The table in the marquee looked so pretty with the red flowers in multiple vases and candles running down the length of the table accented by the red water glasses. Sue’s cooking was absolutely delicious – the food was fantastic, Gail ran the day like silk and thought of everything and more, and the lovely waitresses were all so courteous and professional – the day just couldn’t have been better!

Many thanks to you and your team for making Maggie’s 80th Birthday Party lunch such a success with so many special memories to treasure.

Kind regards,

Sally”

Delectable canapes to begin your party

“Everyone thought the food, the service, and the professionalism of your team was of the highest order.

I’m not surprised in a way, but it’s hard to believe we cleared off 2000 canapés… They were so tasty!

We had two professional caterers at the event and they were both very impressed with the whole catering experience.  In fact, Janie Harding Edgar (who does all the catering in-house for British Land) recommended you for a 200 cover job in town and you promptly won it – well done!

Awesome!

Best regards,

Ian”

Colourful & completely divine!

“Thank you so much for producing such amazing food. The salads were perfect with the beautiful salmon.

The cake was too delicious to eat but we did our best ! There were many compliments heading your way. Most felt it was the best chocolate cake they had eaten. A comment worthy of the cake and your skill.

We will definitely be using your excellent service on our next occasion so thank you for all your help.

Best wishes,

Julia”

Starry-Eyed Delights

Perrier-Jouët Champagne, clinked in stunning hand-painted flutes, to set the tone at Amanda Wakeley’s Autumn/Winter event, where we provided the party food

Beef Carpaccio with Watercress cream and Parmesan Croute micro watercress, adorned with seasonal blooms

Two Many Cooks delight in crafting party food which is beautiful to behold, and even finer to taste!

Sesame Tuna with wasabi and pickled cucumber

This week, we were called upon to create delectable canapes for British fashion icon, Amanda Wakeley. Whether we are catering for high profile events, weddings or at-home celebrations, Two Many Cooks has an instinct for providing food which mirrors the desired mood and thrills your particular guests.

Manicured guests at the Wakeley party make delicate pinches for our canapes!

For Amanda Wakeley’s evening, we felt that immaculate presentation, sophisticated flavours and light yet satisfying canapes would work perfectly.

Of course, these were to be served by our experienced staff, who find the way to be discreet yet irresistibly friendly!

Our fabulous staff are styled according to the event in question, here wearing crisp white shirts for Wakeley’s launch. Smiles are the ever-present accessory!

The menu Two Many Cooks fashioned for the stylish celebration was as follows:

Miso and soy cured salmon with lime and cucumber

Beef Carpaccio with Watercress cream and Parmesan Croute micro watercress

Seeded Nutter, lemon houmous and charred courgette, lemon zest

Spiced Cauliflower Bang Bang with Filo Cup and Satay Sauce, spring onion and micro coriander

Sesame Tuna with wasabi and pickled cucumber

Cherry Tomato Tarte Tain with basil basil and micro basil

Guests love to savour our canape creations!

Amanda Wakeley’s flagship boutique in London, where we served canapes to her guests

Amanda Wakeley styles Angelina Jolie and Helen Mirren. She has just unveiled her new Autumn/Winter collection, ‘Midnight Moth.’ For a special ‘behind-the-brand’ event presented by Conde Nast Traveller, Wakeley’s dazzling designs were presented at her flagship London boutique.

Amanda Wakeley, self-styled in impeccable fashion, adding a touch of bling to an oversized sweater with gold jewellery

Contrasting colours and vivid prints to revive us in the cooler months

“I’m always travelling and absorbing people, places, cultures, nature and architecture,” Amanda explains. “Travel is my biggest source of inspiration, plus it gives me the space to think. Earlier this year, I visited Beirut for the first time and found the mix of ancient and modern exquisite, and the live-for-today spirit totally intoxicating.”

Sharp tailoring framing fluid lines are a couple of Wakeley’s signature elements

Casual knitwear tones down an ornate skirt

The fashion gurus at Conde Nast Traveller describe Amanda Wakeley’s ‘Midnight Moth’ collection as: “filled with rich embroideries and embellishment, bold prints, textures, jewel-like colours and ashes of metallics, made for nocturnal creatures.”

Leopard print speaks to classic glamour

Amanda Wakeley adds: “I was influenced by New York in the 1970s and the golden age of Studio 54. It’s an eclectic fusion of bohemianism, rock’n’roll and disco.” Well, rock on, we say!

Gold glitter balls positioned the collection in Studio 54’s heyday

Ornate beading and mesmerising patterns distinguish Wakeley’s ‘Midnight Moth’ collection

It really was a (disco)ball catering for such a luxurious event! We relished adding indulgent offerings of our own, in the form of our coveted canapes.

Our canapes will be served to your guests on rustic wooden boards, complete with vibrant flowers, for eye-catching offerings

If you are planning an event, party, wedding or special celebration which requires food of the finest quality, created bespoke for you, do get in touch with Two Many Cooks!

We look forward to collaborating with you…

Here at Fetcham Park House, Clare and James chose to host their wedding. The discerning duo asked Two Many Cooks to create a suitably stunning menu, to mirror the elegance of the house and its surroundings.

It Only Takes (Four) Minutes…

Gorgeous bride, Clare, fills Two Many Cooks in on the finer details of her love story with James:

“We met in 2013 on a speed date near St Paul’s, and although it was only 4 minutes long, we knew we wanted to see each other again.

On our first ‘real’ date we realised that we had lots in common, including both having been in the TA (at uni, not the serious stuff!) and a fondness for wine and the outdoors. He is also very tall. I like tall men!”

Clare & James were a portrait of elegance on their wedding day

“He proposed on a beach in Ireland – somewhere that he had spent at lot of time as a child. His reasoning was that it would then be a special place for both of us. Although the game was nearly given away when the airport security took an interest in his ring hiding place, luckily I was too busy faffing with my own hand luggage to notice and it remained a surprise!”

Elegant Exclusivity

Clare and James opted for Fetcham House for a variety of reasons. First, “We think it’s very important not to force guests to travel far or stay in expensive hotels, so being close to London and my home town was where we were looking for. Also somewhere that was exclusively ours, rather than shared with tourists.”

Light-Hearted Luxe

In desiring an elegant yet relaxed day, which resonates with the Two Many Cooks ethos, Clare and James turned their attention to personal touches.

Clare explains they wished for their wedding to be “sophisticated, whilst not taking ourselves too seriously. There was a loose affiliation with our respective degrees – German and Natural Sciences. This was reflected in German animal names for our tables and bell jars for the centre pieces!”

Absolute Abundance

“Abundance” was a key priority for Clare and James, which is another department Two Many Cooks tend to be well known for!

“We personally hate going hungry at weddings or having the bar run dry of a particular drink. So having lots of amazing food – we were complimented on our canapé range and quantity – thanks, Two Many Cooks!

Glasses that never go empty also featured heavily in our planning. It resulted in many a complaint about a sore head in the morning!”

“We also are very keen on our wines and wanted to be able to bring our own supplies in, without paying a corkage charge, so we could get something special in. Fetcham House, unlike a lot of venues, allowed this, which was key in our decisions.”

Wine-lovers Clare and James loved being able to bring their own carefully chosen wines, free of corkage, to Fetcham Park House

“The venue is such a grand place that the food and service had to match. We had a Salmon starter and a Lamb main which are foods we like to eat. The style was British.”

Clare and James’ bespoke, luxury menu was as follows:

Canapés

Cherry Tomato Tarte Tatin with Fresh Basil Pesto

Rare Beef, Creamed Horseradish & Yorkshire Puddings

Hot Smoked Trout, Caper Crème Fraiche & Dill Blini

Peking Duck Rolls with Cucumber, Spring Onions & Hoisin

Bang Bang Chicken in Filo Cups with Satay Sauce

“My Achilles heel for desserts is lemon – if there is a lemon dessert on the menu at restaurants I have to have it! So it was an obvious choice for our dessert option.

In the evening there was also a cheese board but, heartbreakingly, I was so caught up in the day I didn’t get to eat any. However, I was assured that it was very good!

An impressive Pork Pie in the style of a wedding cake added to the feast!

“A good friend of ours had given up the Bar to go into baking, and we were extremely honoured that she made our wedding cake.

It was shaped like a log (to go with the Botany theme). Apparently, a couple who were planning to get married later in the year took the remains away in a Tupperware as they wanted it for their event!”

In Sync

With their wedding happening to fall on the same date as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, another synchronicity ensued as a surely splendid omen!

For their first dance, Clare and James chose “‘Stand by Me,’ by Ben E. King. This was for no particular reason, but it also turned out to be the song that Harry & Meghan chose on their wedding day, so was clearly part of the zeitgeist that we’d picked up on.”

Breathtaking romance

Clare made the somewhat unusual but wonderfully inspired decision of also standing up to address her groom and their guests, in a speech she had prepared.

“I really enjoyed giving a speech myself, as I think women should get a voice at weddings. It was lovely being able to thank everyone and express in my own words how wonderful James is, and how excited I was to be starting a life with him.”

Cheers and well wishes from their assembled friends & family

The Personal Touch

Clare advises future brides and budding grooms: “Weddings are expensive, so focus on the bits you are going to remember – like having great food, good entertainment and a smooth running day. No one is going to remember or care about things like a ceremony program – so why bother worrying about it.

Also, you can do a lot more yourself than wedding fares would have you believe. We made our own sloe gin for favours, we (OK… my mother did!) learnt calligraphy so we could write out our menus, envelopes and placecards beautifully.

We made the table plan (an old frame with a collage of returned RSPVs as a backdrop) and personalised a box for confetti. We experimented with foraging for blossom petals for the actual confetti as there was loads on our road but they turned brown so that idea had to be abandoned.”
